From Complex Data to Government Contract: How a SaaS Transformed Government Supply Chain
Discover how a DoD supply chain platform evolved into a game-changing SaaS solution. This case study reveals how strategic brand messaging and product ecosystem design helped OpenFLIS clearly communicate their complex value proposition, leading to increased prospect engagement and ultimately securing a sole provider contract with the Department of Defense. Learn how the transformation from confusing multi-product offering to a cohesive ecosystem attracted enterprise clients like Lufthansa while maintaining strong government relationships.
Making government business better
Niinja was a SaaS platform by Synergetics that consolidated and standardized supply chain data for the Department of Defense (DoD). Over the years, Niinja has advanced its capabilities by harnessing advanced deep learning capabilities to transform raw logistics data into advanced supply chain information, something that other current solutions lack. This prompted Synergetics to transform Niinja into a new SaaS that focuses on its new offering, which gave life to OpenFLIS. However, despite optimism about their new offering, they struggled to communicate the full value of the new complex solution. They realized that they were losing qualified prospects due to the lack of internal resources and expertise to communicate this idea in a way that their prospects understood the new value. Because of this, they decided to seek the necessary expertise to solve this problem.
Upon working with Moox Creative Group, we started to brainstorm and understand the complete business vision behind OpenFLIS. We realized that the vision included an expansion to a different market—private companies. This created further confusion about how to communicate the product’s value to two completely different audiences.
To address this challenge, Moox Creative Group applied a holistic approach that integrated both the brand and software. This strategy allowed us to bridge the gap between what was communicated and what was being delivered in the product. We worked side by side with the head of OpenFLIS and his team to co-create a brand that clearly and concisely communicated the value of the new SaaS while supporting their future expansion plans from the outset.
This new brand was further activated through a website, several landing pages, and marketing materials that aligned overarching company values with client-specific messaging. Shortly after the brand and material release, OpenFLIS began receiving multiple validations and interest from prospects, attracting enterprises like Lufthansa, several distributors, and high-ranking Department of Defense officials.
Simultaneously, we started working on the product. OpenFLIS initially envisioned three separate products: one for augmented data, another for selling, and an API for the data. However, after refining the strategy and design, Moox Creative Group proposed an ecosystem approach where each product supported the others. This structure encouraged users to sign up for multiple products, increasing the overall value of each new customer.
By unifying the brand with the product and the underlying tech stack, we rapidly developed several iterations of each product. Each solution was designed to reinforce and promote the use of the others. Additionally, we proposed several new features tailored to their clientele’s needs, ensuring alignment with OpenFLIS’s long-term goals.
Following the software launch and initial demos, prospects were amazed by the value this ecosystem brought to their businesses. Unlike before, they quickly grasped the platforms’ benefits, accelerating OpenFLIS’s market perception and growth. Shortly after the release, OpenFLIS secured a government contract to become the sole provider to the Department of Defense.

"We could not be happier with the results."
We worked with the Moox Group to help us evolve a brand and to bring it to life. We could not be happier with the results. They were a fantastic team to work with, and they just understood accurately what we were trying to achieve every step of the way.
